Welcome to Canadian Politics!

Welcome to Canadian Politics is a site designed to provide clear, engaging, and accessible information about Canada’s political system.  Whether you are new to Canadian politics, doing last-minute studying for a political science exam, or just want to know more about the ins and outs of politics in Canada, this site is for you.

Developed by students of Canadian politics at the University of Waterloo and the University of New Brunswick, Welcome to Canadian Politics is comprised of short articles, videos, and links to help you better understand the field of Canadian politics.

This work on this site is non-partisan, that is, it is not associated with any particular political point of view, or any political party. Instead, we aim to help you better understand how politics in Canada work so that you can make up your own mind about what to think about different issues.

We have put together a guide for students participating in Welcome to Canadian Politics in 2022-2023. Please note that this is always a work in progress and we welcome feedback on these materials at any time.

There is also a guide specifically for teaching teams available to download here.
